Daniel Hallmark
I'm Daniel Hallmark, and I started using Linux around '98 but had some prior AIX exposure while working in the computational chemistry lab at UAB. My primary distribution is SuSE although if I ever get time I'd like to build a Gentoo box and also try one of the Debian derivatives.
I have been programming at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama for about 11 years. I started out working on C++ GUI apps for windows and then got into web programming. For about the past 4 years I've been doing mostly Java development including servlet/jsp, xml web services, and network sockets programming. I also occasionally assist with sysadmin and troubleshooting network issues. I work primarily in Linux except for a few tasks where I have to run windows via VMware. At home I do have a box that dual-boots windows for gaming (recovering eq2 addict - I'm one of the guys who spent more on his video card than BC did on his PSP and XBox), and we also have a 20" iMac. I must confess I often sit at the Mac ssh'd into my linux box just so I can have the pleasure of using that wonderful display.
Linux, and all of its available programming environments, just offer way too much cool stuff to learn and do, and there's never enough time for it all.
