The Birmingham Area Linux UsersI work as a systems programmer, so I work primarily on a mainframe but also work with our midrange box (AS/400) and, of course, PCs. We have Linux up and running on our AS/400 and continue to look at the opportunities that IBM is rolling out to run Linux on the mainframe. I have also played with a couple of flavors of desktop Linux, most recently Ubuntu.
I have programmed in everything from COBOL <gasp!> to Rexx and, yes, even Assembler. It's always interesting to learn something new, and Linux has proven to be fun as well!
